Going to LA With a Plan

I don’t enjoy traveling somewhere for work without knowing what I’m going there to accomplish. A content trip costs money before you ever turn on a camera. There’s airfare, transportation, somewhere to stay, food, luggage, and all the random expenses that somehow appear once you’re away from home.

Then you have to coordinate schedules with other creators. Who is available? When can they shoot? Where are we filming? What are we making? What do I need to bring? Suddenly, what looks like a sexy little trip on social media has turned into a production schedule. That’s the part people don’t see.

Then There’s Everything You Have to Pack

Packing for a normal trip is one thing. Packing when you know you’re going to be photographed and filmed is completely different. I’m thinking about lingerie, outfits, shoes, makeup, hair, accessories, and what I’m going to wear to events. Then there’s the creator side of my brain thinking about cameras, chargers, storage, tripods, and anything else I might need to actually make content.

You don’t want to fly into another state and realize the one thing you needed is sitting at home. And somehow I still always feel like I’ve forgotten something.

I can still walk onto a professional set as talent, but I can also create and produce scenes completely independently.

Once the shoots start, LA feels a lot less like a vacation. My days become a cycle of getting ready, traveling between sets, filming, cleaning up, grabbing something to eat, and moving on to whatever is next on the schedule. Then I wake up and do it all over again. I filmed several new boy/girl scenes during this trip, and it was one of the first times in a while that I had really jumped back into partnered content like that.

It reminded me I genuinely enjoy shooting with other people when the chemistry is right.

It also reminded me why I’m selective about it.

Urban X Was Part of the Experience Too

I didn’t spend the entire trip filming. Urban X was part of the reason I was in LA in the first place, and being around other people who work in the industry is its own experience. Most of my everyday work happens independently. I’m planning my content, filming, running my pages, and doing all the little things that come with being a creator. Going somewhere like LA puts you back into an environment where adult entertainment feels like an actual industry happening all around you.

There are performers, producers, photographers, creators, and people you’ve known online suddenly standing in the same room. I am pretty shy in real life and always find these events quite interesting. I left before the Urban X award show, but I did attend the Urban X Lingerie Party, an Urban X pool party, and a mansion party.

What You See Isn’t the Whole Trip

By the time content from a trip appears online, everything looks very simple. You see the finished scenes or photos. You see me having a wonderful time in Los Angeles. What you don’t see is everything surrounding those moments: the planning, traveling, packing, scheduling, getting ready, waiting, changing locations, and trying to make sure you’ve created enough to justify the trip.
